San Antonio Aguas Caliente Woman's Huipil --- Finely woven huipil of cotton base material in 3 back-strap loomed panels. The huipil has finely brocaded birds and flowers that appear equally fine on front and back side of the panel. This two-sided brocade is one of the reasons, San Antonio Aguas Caliente weaving is considered among the finest in Guatemala. The shoulder pattern includes birds and flowers. You can see a slight bit darker color where pleats have been let out. The crocheted neckline has been nicely finished.
Condition: Good used condition. The huipil shows light fading and wear and a few loose threads. Sides seams closed (could be easily opened to wear as a pancho). Panels combination of selvage finished and loosely hemmed. Note comments above about pleats and slight color differential.
