Santa Catarina Palopo Woman's Huipil --- Serpents, double-headed eagles,quetzals, butterflies,Tree of Life, deer and other designs on this nicely brocaded huipil that was woven on a back-strap loom. The huipil has 3 panels and the base color is a light blue that contrasts well with blues, purples and other colors of the brocade. Armholes are finished with an interesting grape design.
Condition: Good used condition. The huipil shows light wear and a few loose threads. Sides seams closed (could be easily opened). Half of the panels are nicely selvage finished the other two are fringed. As with many Santa Catarina Palopo huipils, there is some uneveness to the length of the panels. It could be hemmed to a even length, if desired.
