Santa Catarina Palopo Smaller Woman or Girl's Huipil --- Shades of blue, green and other colors in this huipil. Butterflies, queztals, deer, corn and other design patterns brocaded on a contrasting brown base. It's a very striking new style. Girls and younger women in Santa Catarina Palopo started weaving and wearing this new style of huipil five to ten years ago.. The huipil has 3 panels and is woven on a backstrap loom. Like most Santa Catarina Palopo huipils the thread is a synthetic.
Condition: Good used condition. The huipil shows light wear and a few loose threads. Sides seams are open (could be sewn closed). Half the panels are selvage finished, the others are are fringed. As with many Santa Catarina Palopo huipils, there is some uneveness to the length of the panels. It could be hemmed to a even length, if desired.
