Coban 18" Doll Outfit --- On warm days many Mayan women like to wear the colorfully embroidered Coban Huipil even if they are from a different area. The blouse is lightweight with beautiful flowers and geometric designs embroidered around the neck on commercial cloth. Carmen is from Panajachel, but most often you will see her wearing a Coban style blouse she has made herself (see pictures). She chooses fancy laced commercial cloth for the base material. Be sure to look at the closeup of the beautiful flowers.
Each outfit includes:
- Handwoven doll "huipil"
- "Corte" (skirt) with "jaspe" (ikat) designs
- Colorful sash "faja" (belt)
Other accessory items such as baskets, hammocks, necklaces, hats, slippers, shawls and other fun stuff are available for sale as accessories.
The Artisans: Carmen and her daughter embroider these doll huipils. Carmen is from from Panajachel and has also weaves some of our Panajachel doll huipils. But she prefers to wear and make these Coban style huipils. She has a large family.
