San Antonio Aguas Caliente Woman's Huipil --- Finely woven huipil of cotton base material in 2 back-strap loomed panels. The huipil has finely brocaded geometric zig-zag and star designs in a beautiful palette of blues, pinks, teals and mauve on a wine red base material. The two panels have small pleats sewn in them, so has the appearance of having been woven in 4 panels. Nice finished neck and arm holes.
Condition: Generally good used condition. I like the patina of its wear. The huipil shows even fading and wear and a few loose threads. Sides seam open so could be worn as a poncho (or could be easily closed to wear as an over-blouse). Panels bottoms a combination of selvage finished and loosely hemmed.
