Quetzaltenango (Xela) Guatemala Woman's Huipil --- This wide Xela huipil is beautifully brocaded with unusual figures, diamonds and other geometric patterns on a floor loom. The two randa stripes down the front are are finely embroidered and typical of Quetzaltenago Huipils. Neckline has been nicely finished with a colorful embroidery stitch. Base material is cotton and likely some other mixed threads. I am not sure if it is woven in Xela or another village for finishing and use in Xela.
Condition: Good used condition. The huipil shows light wear, a few loose threads and light even graying. Sides seams open (could be easily sown closed). Panels are hemmed.
