San Pedro Sacatepequez huipils are brocaded with many colorful designs. The fine ceremonial huipils are extremely finely woven with birds and other figured designs in the pattern of the weave. These huipils may take four to six months to weave. The daily use huipils are equally colorful, but the weave is simpler with geometric patterns.
Each outfit includes:
- Handwoven doll "huipil"
- Blue "morga" (skirt)
- Colorful sash "faja" (belt)
Other accessory items such as baskets, hammocks, necklaces, hats, slippers, shawls and other fun stuff are available for sale in our Accessories Collection
The Artisans: Sofia and her friends make Terra Experience's San Pedro Sacatepequez doll outfits. Her family is a member of the confradia in San Pedro and we will have pictures from a recent visit there soon. Sofia is showing Josefina how to weave in the picture below.
