Huipil - Santa Catarina Palopo, Woman Larger H_SCP_15-02-B

Santa Catarina Palopo Woman's Huipil ---  Quetzals, peacocks, butterflies,Tree of Life, corn, and zig zag lightning designs on this nicely brocaded huipil that was woven on a back-strap loom. The huipil has 3 panels and the base color is black that contrasts well with greens, blues and other colors of the brocade.  Neck is finished with a button-hole embroidery. A little of the brocade thread has brillante (metal threads) giving the huipil a little special sparkle.

Condition:  Good used condition.  The huipil shows light wear and a few loose threads. Sides seams open (could be easily sewn closed).  Half of the panels are fringed others are looped selvage finished giving a similar feel to the fringe. As with many Santa Catarina Palopo huipils, there is some uneveness to the length of the panels.  It could be hemmed to a even length, if desired.
