Santa Catarina Palopo Woman's Huipil --- Quetzals,Tree of Life, corn, peacocks and other bird designs on this nicely brocaded huipil that was woven on a back-strap loom. The huipil has 3 panels and the base color is black that contrasts well with greens and other colors of the brocade. Neck is finished with a button-hole embroidery. A few of the thread have a bit of brillante or metalic threads.
Condition: Good used condition. The huipil shows light wear and a few loose threads. Sides seams open (could be easily sewn closed). Half of the panels are fringed others are a looped selvage finish that is similar to the fringe. As with many Santa Catarina Palopo huipils, there is some uneveness to the length of the panels. It could be hemmed to a even length, if desired..
