Quetzaltenango (Xela) Guatemala Woman's Huipil --- Fun warm colors and embroidery of flowers and birds on this daily use three-panel larger huipil from Xela. Material is primarily cotton and very nicely woven on a floor loom in Totonicapan area for use by Quetzaltenago Mayan Women. The two embroidered randas down the front and decoration around the neck are typical of Quetzaltenago. Also includes an embroidered center design. The flowers are nicely done and are machine embroidered. Blue "velvet" trim around shoulder openings and neck.
Condition: Moderately good used condition. The huipil shows some wear and a few loose threads. Tucks in the hupil have been opened The lower white base portion of the huipil shows some even discoloration and graying. Sides seams open (could be easily sown closed). Panels hemmed.
