Patzun Morga -  This black and white checked morga tube wrap-around skirt are from an older tradition of handwoven skirts in Patzun Guatemala. Carmen Petterson paintings (published in her 1976 book) show this style worn with Patzun confradia huipils. The black and white morga style is still worn at times on ceremonial and  festive occasions., Today in Patzun women wear for daily use various jaspe skirts that are non-village specific  The black and white skirt material is hand-woven on a floor or treadle loom.  The skirt of material 36" (weft) by  65" x 2 = 88" (warp).   It is in good used conditions with some wear along the selvages, light spotting, and nice even sun fading that makes the material more of  dark grey rather than black.  Weight is 1.5 lbs.
