Corte - Multicolored Jaspe Tube Skirt from San Juan Laguna Guatemala C_MJ_17E
Terra Experience Collection
San Juan La Laguna --- Brown tones and unusual weave in this two-panel foot-loomed jaspe (ikat) skirt material probably made in Totonicapan to be worn by Mayan women in Juan La Laguna. Beautiful design with the narrow lines and jaspe colors. Bought from Josefa 2017. She said it was her grandmothers. It is of a style I haven't seen very often. The thread is primarily cotton with a small amount of brillente (shiny) threads in some of golden vertical lines to give a little sparkle.
Dimensions: Skirt material is 35 +8" = 43" wide (weft) by 44" long (warp). Weight: 2 lbs.
Condition: Material in good used condition. I believe this material is a shorter length than the original skirt. Pictures were taken in Wisconsin during winter. Don't have enough floor space to picture entire skirt. If you would like to see additional pictures, before you buy contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
