Chajul Woman's Huipil --- Double headed serpents in the geometric design and colors on this brocaded woman's huipil. Back-strap loomed, traditional 2-panel construction with rich red background,. The huipil's soft base material has the feel of what Mayan women often call "Aleman" and is most likely a soft rayon thread. It's been a long time since "Aleman" thread came from Germany, or is the cotton thread that many Mayan women believe it to be, but the terminology continues.
Condition: Good used condition with a few loose threads. Selvages on all panels somewhat uneven lengths. Two panel selvages have been reinforced with threads. Side seams are sewn closed (could be easily opened).
