Chajul Woman's Huipil --- Geomorphic animals and strong colors brocaded into this woman's huipil. Back-strap loomed, traditional 2-panel construction with rich red background (not sure if cotton or acrylic threads). The huipil's soft base material has the feel of what Mayan women often call "Aleman" and is most likely a soft rayon thread. It's been a long time since "Aleman" thread came from Germany, or is the cotton thread that many Mayan women believe it to be, but the terminology continues.
Condition: Good used condition with a few loose threads. Selvages on all panels. Two panel selvages have been reinforced with threads. Side seams are sewn closed.
