Chajul Woman's Huipil --- Geometric birds with jewel colors brocaded on this soft woman's huipil. Back-strap loomed, rich purple base and traditional 2-panel construction. The huipil's soft base material has the feel of what Mayan women often call "Aleman" and is most likely a soft rayon thread. It's been a long time since "Aleman" thread came from Germany, or is the cotton thread that many Mayan women believe it to be, but the terminology continues.
Condition: Very good used condition with a few loose threads. Good selvages on all panels. Side seams are sewn closed.
Width: 27-28 inches
Length: 23 inches
Neck: 6 inches wide by 3 inches deep and 1.5" slit
* Remember the huipil's width should be at least 1.5 to 2 times your shoulders width, to allow for fitting your frame and to cover part of your upper arms
