Chichicastenago Woman's Huipil --- Striking geometric design and colors on this brocaded woman's huipil. Back-strap loomed, traditional 3-panel construction with black background (likely cotton). Sun design embroidered around head hole. Brocade seems to have some lustrina (like silk shiny) thread.
Condition: Good used condition with a few loose threads and light fairly even fading of black background. Selvages on all panels with some looseness along bottom of several of the selvages. Side seams are open (could be easily sewn closed if preferred). As with many Chichicastenago huipils, there is some unevenness to the length of the panels. It could be hemmed to a even length, if desired.
Width: 31 inches
Length: 26 - 27 inches
Neck: 5.5 inches wide by 2.5 inches deep
* Remember the huipil's width should be at least 1.5 to 2 times your shoulders width, to allow for fitting your frame and to cover part of your upper arms.
