San Antonio Aguas Caliente Woman's Huipil --- Finely woven huipil of cotton base material in 2 back-strap loomed panels. The huipil has finely brocaded flowers, squirrels, grapes and cherubs that appear equally fine on front and back side of the panel. This two-sided brocade is one of the reasons, San Antonio Aguas Caliente weaving is considered among the finest in Guatemala. The shoulder pattern includes flowers, squirrels, grapes and cherubs.
Condition: Generally good used condition. The finely woven huipil shows some fading and wear and a few loose threads. The huipils price reflects the fault is that the brocade top shoulder has wear, and has been seamed to strengthen (suggest look at closely). Sides seams open (could be easily sewn closed). Panels combination of selvage finished and hemmed. Note comments above about pleats and slight color differential.
