Santa Catarina Palopo Woman's Huipil --- Quetzals, butterflies,Tree of Life, deer, dogs, roosters and other designs on this nicely brocaded huipil that was woven on a back-strap loom. The huipil has 3 panels and the base color is a darker red that contrasts well with blues and other colors of the brocade. Neck and armholes are finished with a button-hole embroidery.
Condition: Good used condition. The huipil shows light wear and a few loose threads. Sides seams closed (could be easily opened). Half of the panels are nicely selvage finished the other two are hemmed but also appear selvage finished. As with many Santa Catarina Palopo huipils, there is some uneveness to the length of the panels. It could be hemmed to a even length, if desired.
